Hells Canyon Adventures is the only licensed outfitter that offers jet boat adventures or fishing charters that start at the South Entrance to the Snake (at Hells Canyon Dam). The most spectacular portion of Hells Canyon begins in the Wild River section of the Snake River, South Entrance of Hells Canyon. Hells Canyon Adventures offers jet boat adventures that are fun, economical, great for all ages and a convenient way to experience this remarkable remote location. You won’t be just another number or just another customer when you travel through Hells Canyon with Hells Canyon Adventures. Easy access from Oregon or Idaho to the South Entrance of Hells Canyon: (1) Highway 71 from Cambridge, Idaho (2) Highway 86 from Baker City, Oregon (3) USFS Road #39 from Wallowa Lake/Joseph, Oregon. All roads lead to the famed “Devils Tail,” the last 22 miles from Oxbow to the Hells Canyon Dam. Drive slow and enjoy the scenery!

The South Entrance of Hells Canyon is a remote location. We want you to enjoy all that a remote location has to offer so come prepared. Have a full tank of gas, have a cooler full of snacks and drinks, and be prepared to turn off your phone because the cell phone service is spotty.

Drive time from McCall to Hells Canyon Dam is about 3 hours.

General Location: Oxbow, OR
Directions: 3 hour drive from McCall area. Hells Canyon Adventures is on the south end of Hells Canyon near Oxbow, Oregon, and just below Hells Canyon Dam. It is approximately eighty miles east of Baker City, Oregon and Interstate 84. From Hwy 95, take Hwy 71 out of Cambridge, Idaho. Cross over Hells Canyon Dam and go 1 1/2 miles to Visitors Center. HCA office will be there.

During the six hour tour you will have the opportunity to navigate the largest rapids in Hells Canyon while traveling through the deepest part. You will enjoy spectacular scenery, Indian pictographs, and camp sites some 7,500 years old, an abandoned homesteaders cabin and Kirkwood Living Historical Ranch. This ranch, now a museum, was the home of former Governor and U.S. Senator of Idaho, Len Jordan and his wife Grace, author of "Home Below Hells Canyon." On the Overnighter you will travel by way of the Snake River through Hells Canyon. You will travel past the mouth of three rivers, three states, seeing all of Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, passing by active ranches, abandoned mines, and navigate the largest rapids in Hells Canyon.

Wild Sheep Scenic Tour/Granite CreekThis is not a wild whitewater trip, but a delightful scenic tour to the deepest part of Hells Canyon. The trip stops at an abandoned Indian village where you will see the remains of an Indian pit house, pictographs, and explore a long since deserted cave. You will also hear commentary about geology, and early homestead life in the Canyon. The water is warm and there will be time to swim so come prepared. The 2 & 3 hour tours are great for the whole family.

While you are out fishing you will run the best of the rapids Hells Canyon has to offer. You will also stop along the way to see Native American rock art and an abandoned homestead cabin. Gear provided.
